VISUAL LANGUAGE / VISUELT SPROG

Inspiration is taken from photographs and paintings by artists such as Gregory Crewdson, Alex Colville and Francisco de Goya, who portrayed everyday situations, but exposed the darkness and ugliness lurking beneath the surface. Goya's 14 “black paintings” are in particular interesting - they are ominous without being especially violent (with the exception of Saturn devouring his son - a story that oddly mirrors this one). "Black Blood" looks for images that depict desperation, hopelessness, agression and depravity as hidden just out of sight and yet makes their presence known on a sensory, perhaps instinctive level - which is what “Black Blood” should elicit in its viewer.
